Under the leadership of President Dr. John Walz, instrumental in developing next-generation AI technologies with transformational support from Dr. Dwight Diercks, Senior Vice President at NVIDIA, has directly contributed to MSOE has been recognized as one of the undisputed leaders in the USA for Computer Science programs in Advanced Artificial Intelligence and Supercomputing.

Furthermore, Dr. Vaghela was hosted at NVIDIA Headquarters, USA by Dr. Diercks, a leading authority in Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Vaghela expressed his gratitude for Dr. Diercks generosity of 34 million US dollars, which has enhanced MSOE with ultra-modern infrastructure and world-class NVIDIA’s Advanced AI technology, including a supercomputer named Rosie, NVIDIA labs, and research centers.

During a discussion, Dr. Vaghela sought advice from Dr. Diercks on the ideal academic path for students to excel in the AI. Dr. Diercks recommended a dual-degree approach - such as an undergraduate degree in Computer Science (CS) with a focus on Applied AI, paired with a graduate degree in Machine Learning (ML). He noted, “This combination, achievable in just five years at MSOE, equips students to innovate and lead just as they would at NVIDIA.”

The Dwight and Dian Diercks Computational Science Hall is a 64,000 square foot cornerstone facility has positioned MSOE at the forefront of artificial intelligence education and next generation technologies NVIDIA.

A major feature of the facility is the state-of-the-art datacenter which is home to MSOE's GPU-accelerated supercomputer. Students, faculty and staff, and business across industries are collaborate with MSOE to benefit from this tremendous asset to the region.
